The Bayelsa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was contained in a communiqué issued after the party’s 12th Expanded Stakeholders Meeting on Tuesday and presented by party chieftain, Ambassador Philips Ikrusi.
According to the statement, Tinubu’s “development drive across sectors and the appointment of Bayelsa people into strategic positions” were central to the decision.
Stakeholders at the meeting also pointed to the administration’s backing for a South-South Senate President, the signing of the South-South Development Commission Act, and major infrastructure projects such as the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, which they said would unlock the region’s economic potential.
Bayelsa APC Chairman, Chief Dennis Otiotio, explained that the gathering was convened to assess the President’s performance. “The President has done well for Bayelsa people by appointing various Bayelsa indigenes into important positions, among others,” he said.
Former Governor Timipre Sylva applauded the national APC leadership for promoting cohesion within the state chapter. “Bayelsa APC is stronger than any other APC anywhere. We commend the NDDC for their support in keeping the party united and standing tall in Bayelsa,” he remarked.
Chief Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), noted that previous rifts within the state chapter had been settled. “In life, there is always time of disagreement and agreement but settlement is always the key to every crisis. APC Bayelsa has already buried their differences,” he stated.
The APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, represented by the Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Emma Eneukwu, told the meeting that more governors and senators were expected to join the party before the 2027 elections to strengthen Tinubu’s re-election bid.
“President Tinubu is on the move to take Nigeria to greater heights,” he said.
