Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, has welcomed the member representing Makoda State Constituency in the Kano State House of Assembly, Muhammad Ahmad Tomas, back to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Barsu hailed his defection as a significant development in Kano State’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Tomas, who recently defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), announced his return to the ruling party during a visit to Barau’s residence in Abuja on Monday.

He was accompanied by the Chairman of Makoda Local Government Area, Alhaji Isa Currency, and the Chairman of Dambatta Local Government Area, Alhaji Jamilu Abubakar Dambatta.

In a statement personally signed by Barau, the Deputy Senate President described the lawmaker’s return as timely and important, noting that it reflected a commitment to progress and good governance.

Barau said Tomas’ decision to realign with the APC would further strengthen the party’s position in Kano North Senatorial District and across Kano State.

He assured the returning lawmaker of equal opportunities within the party and urged APC members to remain united as political activities gather momentum ahead of future elections.

According to him, collective efforts and party cohesion would remain vital to advancing development in Kano State and Nigeria.
