Bandits have reportedly killed two residents, including an All Progressives Congress (APC) ward leader, in the Rantan community of Bebeji Local Government Area, Kano State.
The attack occurred on Sunday night when gunmen stormed the community and opened fire on residents.
A journalist, Bakatsine, who reports on conflict and insecurity in Nigeria’s North-West, disclosed the incident in a post on X on Monday.
According to the report, one of the victims was identified as Alhaji Garba Buba, the APC ward leader in Rantan, who was fatally shot during the assault. Another resident, identified as Sulaiman Zunduma, was also killed at the scene.
The incident occurred just hours after the reported rescue of the Sarkin Noman Jihar Kano, Alhaji Yusuf Nadabo Chiromawa, who had been abducted in Chiromawa, Garun Malam Local Government Area of the state.
As of the time of filing this report, the Kano State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the attack.
