Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, on Sunday visited Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, in Ibadan to sympathise with the government and people of the state over the abduction of teachers and pupils in Oriire Local Government Area.

Mohammed was accompanied by leaders of the Allied People’s Movement, including the party’s National Chairman, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, and its Bauchi State governorship candidate, Yakubu Adamu.

During the visit, the governor called for a review of the country’s security system to improve the protection of lives and property across Nigeria.

Mohammed said the visit was to show support for Oyo State following the abduction of teachers and schoolchildren in Yawota and Esiele communities.

He said he and other party leaders came to share in the grief of the people and government of Oyo State and to encourage efforts being made to secure the release of the victims.

Mohammed praised Makinde for his commitment to ensuring the safe return of the abducted teachers and pupils, expressing confidence that they would soon regain their freedom.

The Bauchi governor said he was in Ibadan on behalf of the government and people of Bauchi State to express solidarity with Oyo State and support ongoing efforts to rescue the victims.

He also urged security agencies to continue working towards the safe release of those still in captivity.

The visit comes as concerns continue to grow over the abduction of teachers and pupils during attacks on schools in Oriire Local Government Area.

Security agencies have intensified rescue efforts, while political leaders and other stakeholders have continued to call for urgent action to tackle insecurity across the country.
