Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, joined Vice President Kashim Shettima and fellow state governors at the Presidential Villa for the conclusion of the second National Economic Council (NEC) Conference.
The two-day event, themed Delivering Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development, served as the final vetting ground for the Renewed Hope National Development Plan 2026–2030.
Governor Bago was a key contributor to the deliberations, which focused on aligning state-level reforms with the federal government’s ambitious target of a $1 trillion national economy.
Discussions centered on strengthening policy coordination and deepening structural reforms to ensure that development is felt across all 36 states.
A major highlight of the conference was the intersection of security and economic growth, where governors discussed the potential for state policing as a strategy to address the security challenges that currently hinder agricultural and industrial output.
The council finalized the endorsement of the five-year National Development Plan, ensuring a unified approach between the Central Bank, Federal Ministers, and State Executives.
Chief Press Secretary Bologi Ibrahim noted that the Governor’s contributions emphasized actionable strategies to drive inclusive growth and enhance the national economic framework.
The conference successfully brought together top government officials to ensure a synchronized approach to Nigeria’s economic policies over the next four years.
