Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is currently leading the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary election ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Early results show that he has won five states, including Gombe, Abia, Ebonyi, Sokoto, and Zamfara. Delegates across the country are still casting their votes to determine the party’s presidential standard-bearer.
Atiku is contesting the ticket against the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and economist Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
Although the ADC has not released the official final results from all the states and the Federal Capital Territory, early collation indicates that Atiku is maintaining a clear lead over the other contenders. His strong performance in the initial voting rounds has raised expectations that he may eventually secure the party’s ticket if the trend continues.
Party leaders have urged members to remain patient as the counting of votes continues, reassuring them that the final result will accurately reflect the decision of delegates nationwide.
The primary election represents a critical milestone for the ADC as it positions itself for the 2027 polls. The party is expected to announce the official winner as soon as the full collation of results is completed.
