Association appeals to Gov. Sani for roads in Kauru LG

The Binawa Development Association in Kauru Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State has appealed to Gov. Uba Sani to construct major roads across the area to boost economic activities and promote sustainable development.

The appeal is contained in a statement on Tuesday in Kauru by Mr Istifanus Danjuma, National President, Binawa Development Association.

Danjuma expressed appreciation to Gov. Sani for the achievements recorded by his administration, particularly the completion of the road linking Pambegua with the Kauru Local Government headquarters which he said was a relief to the people.

“This important project has brought tremendous relief to our people and demonstrated your administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure and reducing the hardship faced by rural communities across Kaduna State.”

He however, drew the governor’s attention to another critical road challenge that had affected residents of Kauru LGA for several decades that needed attention.

According to him, residents face a peculiar situation in which they are compelled to make a long detour through Lere and Kubau LGAs before accessing their own local government headquarters.

“This situation has effectively isolated large parts of our communities, particularly the entire Chawai Chiefdom and parts of Kumana Chiefdom, from the administrative headquarters of the local government,” he said.

He said the difficult terrain and poor road connectivity had divided communities and made movement extremely difficult for residents.

He said farmers struggled to transport their produce, civil servants faced challenges accessing their places of work, while security personnel encountered difficulties responding promptly to security situations.

“The situation has negatively affected trade, healthcare, education, commerce and other socio-economic activities,” he said.

He noted that successive administrations had been approached on the issue, but no lasting solution had been achieved.

He said former and serving members of the National Assembly, members of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, local government chairmen, traditional rulers, community leaders and other indigenes of Kauru had consistently lobbied and appealed for government intervention.

“Despite these persistent efforts, a lasting solution has not yet been achieved,” he said.

He therefore appealed to the governor, whose administration had demonstrated commitment to infrastructure development and improving the welfare of residents, to intervene.

“We humbly request that the 2027 Kaduna State budget should make adequate provision for the construction of the road from Kauru Emirate, through Kwassam, Geshere and Binawa in Kumana Chiefdom, to link up with the Mariri federal highway,” he said.

He said construction of the road would be transformational, providing a direct and reliable link between communities and the local government headquarters, while opening up rural communities and facilitating agricultural activities and the movement of farm produce.

He said the road would also improve access to schools and healthcare facilities, strengthen security operations, promote trade and commerce, and enhance the socio-economic development of Kauru LGA.

“This is more than a road; it is a lifeline for our people.

“Its construction will reconnect communities that have remained isolated for decades and give our farmers, students, civil servants, traders and other residents a safer and easier means of accessing essential services and economic opportunities,” he said.

He said the people of Kauru remained optimistic about Gov. Sani’s administration and its commitment to reducing the suffering of ordinary citizens and providing meaningful infrastructure across Kaduna State.
