The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, on Wednesday officially unveiled the mascot, logo, and theme for the 15th Biennial Nigeria Police Games, scheduled to hold in Asaba, Delta State, in February 2026.
The unveiling ceremony, held at the Peacekeeping Conference Centre, Force Headquarters, Abuja, marked the commencement of the countdown to the games and signaled the Force’s readiness to host a world-class sporting event.
IGP Egbetokun announced the theme for the 2026 Games as “Beyond the Badge; Excellence in Action,” accompanied by the slogan “Discipline, Dignity, and Dedication.”
Speaking at the event, the IGP explained that the mascot symbolizes the core values of the Nigeria Police Force: the courage to protect, the unity that binds, the fitness that strengthens, and the excellence that elevates service both on duty and on the field of play.
He emphasized the strategic importance of the biennial event, noting that sports play a vital role in enhancing physical fitness, discipline, teamwork, and morale among officers.
He added that the Games serve as a unifying platform that reinforces professionalism and strengthens the bond between the police and the community.
“This ceremony is a moment of pride for the Force, symbolizing the growing momentum toward Asaba 2026,” Egbetokun stated. “The Games have long stood as a unifying platform that reinforces professionalism, excellence, and shared identity across the Force.”
The Inspector-General expressed profound appreciation to the Delta State Government, led by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, for accepting to host the 2026 edition.
He commended the high level of preparedness already demonstrated by the state and lauded the synergy between the Delta Sports Commission and the Force Sports Planning Committee, led by AIG Fom Pam Joseph.
Dignitaries present at the event included the Delta State Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Kingsley Emu, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, represented by Mr. Ibrahim Abdulkadir.
Also in attendance were the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko; the President of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), Dr. Elizabeth Egbetokun; members of the Force Management Team; and Directors of Sports from sister security agencies.
Assuring athletes and stakeholders of a seamless event, Egbetokun promised that the 15th Biennial Police Games would deliver a memorable experience that further promotes unity and the enduring spirit of service within the Nigeria Police Force.
