Arsenal have officially joined the race for Newcastle United’s standout full-back Tino Livramento, as fresh reports suggest the North London club is preparing a summer bid for the 23-year-old England international.
The move comes as contract negotiations between Livramento and the Magpies have reportedly hit an impasse.
According to The Telegraph, the versatile defender who can operate on both the right and left flanks has shown no immediate intention to extend his current deal at St James’ Park beyond June 2028.
With Livramento set to enter the final two years of his contract this summer, Newcastle find themselves in a vulnerable position, facing the risk of a significant drop in his market value if fresh terms are not agreed upon.
Mikel Arteta is believed to be a long-term admirer of the former Chelsea academy graduate, seeing him as an ideal fit for the Gunners’ evolving defensive unit.
Adding intrigue to the potential deal is the fact that Livramento shares the same agent as Arteta, a connection that insiders believe could smooth the path for a move to the Emirates Stadium.
However, a deal will not come cheap. Newcastle are reportedly holding out for a fee in the region of £60 million nearly double the £32 million they paid Southampton for his services in 2023. The Magpies’ reluctance to sell is complicated by their need to balance the books after failing to secure Champions League football for the current season.
Arsenal aren’t the only ones watching the situation closely. Manchester City have long been linked with the full-back, while Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United are also rumored to be on red alert
For the Gunners to finalize a move, they may first need to sanction a major departure, with reports suggesting that the club must sell at least one senior player to fund another summer of heavy investment.
