The Nigerian Army has alerted the public to a fraudulent recruitment advertisement currently circulating on social media, which claims that the application form for the Direct Short Service Course (DSSC) 29 for the year 2026 is out.
In a disclaimer issued on Friday, the Acting Director of the Directorate of Army Public Relations, Colonel Anele Appolonia, described the viral advertisement as fake, false, and misleading.
She stated categorically that the Nigerian Army has not authorized any such publication and has not commenced any recruitment or commissioning exercise for either the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) or the Short Service Commission (SSC) at this time.
The Army spokesperson expressed concern that fraudsters are using these fake notices to deceive and defraud unsuspecting individuals who are eager to join the service.
She strongly advised members of the public to disregard the advertisement, emphasizing that it did not emanate from any authorized Army channel.
Colonel Appolonia reiterated that the Nigerian Army does not charge any fee for recruitment into its ranks.
She warned applicants to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to criminal elements soliciting payments for non-existent forms.
The statement further clarified that whenever the military is ready to commence recruitment, the public will be duly informed through appropriate and verified platforms.
These include the Nigerian Army’s official website, its verified social media accounts, and publications in national dailies.
The Army urged anyone with information regarding the individuals behind the fraudulent scheme to promptly report them to the nearest security agency for necessary action.
