Armed Attack Leaves Several Injured in Dikwa Community, Borno State

On April 18, 2024, residents of a community in Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State were thrown into panic following an armed attack by suspected bandits who invaded the area in large numbers and carried out coordinated assaults on parts of the village.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the attackers entered the community armed with weapons and began to surround and disrupt residential areas, causing widespread fear among inhabitants. As gunshots rang out, many residents fled their homes in search of safety, while others took cover within the community.

During the course of the attack, several villagers sustained gunshot injuries. Among those affected was Mr. Afolabi Oluwasegunota Sunday, who was reportedly shot in the arm. Other injured residents were identified as Ayodele Rasak, Omar Victor, Mustapha Ali, and Muhammad Saheed. Community members and relatives made efforts to assist the wounded despite the tense and dangerous conditions at the time.

Following the incident, the injured victims were evacuated to the General Hospital in Dikwa, where they received emergency medical attention.

The attack has further heightened concerns over insecurity in parts of Borno State, where residents continue to face periodic threats from armed groups.
