The Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council has called on Governor Ademola Adeleke to hand over several aides and associates to security agencies for investigation regarding alleged murder, violence, and other criminal activities in the state.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Head of the Media and Publicity Committee, Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye, the party accused Governor Adeleke of making”reckless falsehoods and baseless allegations against supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This statement was a reaction to the governor’s claims that APC supporters were responsible for acts of violence and the vandalism of government properties and campaign billboards across Osun State.
The council stated that while such laughable accusations would ordinarily not deserve a response, it was necessary to set the record straight and expose the desperation and hypocrisy of a governor who has become jittery over his impending electoral defeat.
The council characterized Governor Adeleke’s recent outburst as a calculated attempt to garner public sympathy after failing to provide purposeful leadership and good governance.
The statement further alleged that the governor resorted to cheap blackmail and diversionary tactics after squandering public goodwill through incompetence, propaganda, and political vendetta.
It noted that the governor and his political camp turned against security agencies when those institutions refused to violate the Nigerian Constitution or disregard court judgments reinstating the APC-led local government leadership, which the council claims was unlawfully sacked by the Adeleke administration.
According to the campaign council, Governor Adeleke expected the Nigerian Police, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps to obey illegal directives.
When these agencies maintained their professionalism, the governor’s aides reportedly launched coordinated attacks against them, inciting the public against law enforcement institutions. The council warned that such unstatesmanlike attitude is a serious threat to democratic order and public peace.
The APC claimed that Governor Adeleke is currently fighting virtually all security agencies in the state because they advised him to rein in supporters and appointees associated with criminal activities.
The council cited security reports suggesting the governor should distance himself from individuals declared wanted by the police. One such individual mentioned was Olalekan Emir Ajagungbade, a Special Assistant to the Governor, who is reportedly on a wanted list for allegations involving murder, kidnapping, and terrorism. The council alleged that Ajagungbade is currently being shielded within the Government House at Okefia.
The council further asserted that the recent vandalism of the governor’s billboards resulted from internal disagreements among cult groups allegedly mobilized by the governor’s family members, including his nephew, Davido, and some of the governor’s children.
The dispute reportedly centered on the sharing formula of money provided for political activities, leading those who felt cheated to destroy the governor’s own campaign materials.
Reiterating that the APC remains a law-abiding party, the council stated they do not require violence to defeat the governor, as the people of Osun have already withdrawn their support due to his lack of capacity
The statement concluded by calling on Governor Adeleke to immediately hand over compromised appointees to law enforcement and allow security institutions to perform their duties without interference.
