The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that payments made by aspirants for expression of interest and nomination forms are not refundable, as the party prepares for its convention.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said on Friday that aspirants are expected to understand the requirements before making any payment.

Speaking on The Morning Show on Arise Television, Morka said the APC assumes applicants are aware of eligibility rules, including the constituencies tied to the positions they seek.

“Ordinarily, these payments for expression of interest and nomination forms are not refundable. The party assumes you know what you are applying for,” he said.

He added that mistakes such as applying for positions outside one’s district remain the responsibility of the aspirant.

“Where someone applies for a position outside their district, that is the responsibility of the applicant,” he said.

Morka, however, noted that refunds could be considered in rare cases under special circumstances.

“I am aware that in the history of the party, there have been occasions where refunds were made on special considerations,” he said.

He said aspirants seeking refunds could submit formal requests, which would be reviewed by the party before a decision is taken.

The clarification comes amid heightened political activity within the APC ahead of its convention, where party positions are being contested.
