Ahead of the 2027 general elections, political activities within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have continued to gain momentum across Lagos State and other parts of the country as party stakeholders intensify grassroots mobilisation and internal consultations.

The development was evident during the party’s Ward C primary election, where Adewale Temitope Adedeji recorded a sweeping victory after polling 6,690 votes to emerge as the winner of the exercise. Other contestants in the primary included Adewale Quadri Obawole, who secured 39 votes; Temitope Akinyemi with 19 votes; Afolabi Olumide Ajiboye with 6 votes; and Adewale Lateef Ojeleye, who polled 1 vote.

The exercise attracted party members, loyalists, and stakeholders, many of whom described the primaries as critical to the APC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its grassroots structure ahead of future elections. Reports indicate that Adedeji, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing the Ifako-Ijaiye I Constituency, has remained actively involved in grassroots mobilisation and legislative engagements within Lagos politics over the years.

The recent APC primary exercises held in parts of Lagos and other states have witnessed heightened political activities, an impressive voter turnout, and growing participation among various party loyalists. According to sources, grassroots leaders emerging from the ongoing primaries are expected to play significant roles in mobilisation, coordination, and electoral planning as the party intensifies preparations ahead of the next polls.

Lagos Gov’t disburses over ₦6bn to 123,314 vulnerable households

The Lagos State Government, through the State Cash Transfer Unit of the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, has disbursed over ₦6 billion to 123,314 vulnerable households across the state under the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer Programme.

As part of efforts to strengthen the implementation of the initiative, the State Cash Transfer Unit organised a Quarterly Review meeting with facilitators drawn from the 20 Local Government Areas of the state, held at the Management Resource Centre in Alausa.

The meeting was convened to assess the progress of the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, review operational performance, address implementation challenges, and develop strategies for improved service delivery to beneficiaries across Lagos State.

Speaking during the meeting, the Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Hon. Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Lolade Aina, emphasised the importance of collaboration, accountability, and effective community engagement in ensuring the success of the programme.

The Commissioner commended local governments that recorded distribution efficiency rates above 90 percent, including Kosofe, Ojo, Ifako-Ijaiye, Apapa, Badagry, and Ikeja, noting that their impressive performance reflects the positive outcomes achievable through effective collaboration between the state and local governments.

Ajigbotafe further stressed that the success of the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme depends greatly on strong synergy between the state government and local governments, adding that effective implementation can only be achieved when local government leadership, desk officers, facilitators, and community representatives fully take ownership of the scheme.

He, therefore, urged all local government teams to intensify community mobilisation efforts, strengthen beneficiary engagement, and ensure proper follow-up during subsequent distribution exercises to guarantee that all eligible households benefit from the Renewed Hope Initiative.

Participants at the review meeting engaged in robust discussions, knowledge-sharing sessions, and capacity-building activities aimed at improving field operations, enhancing data management processes, and ensuring efficient service delivery across Lagos State.
