…Pledges strong contest in November governorship election
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed the inauguration of its National Campaign Council for the November 8 Anambra State governorship election.
APC National Publicity Secretary, Mr Felix Morka, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Thursday through the party’s official X handle.
The event, originally fixed for Thursday at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, will now hold on a new date to be announced later.
“The party regrets any inconvenience this change may cause and assures all stakeholders of its unwavering commitment to ensuring a successful outing in the Anambra election,” Mr Morka stated.
The postponement comes as political parties intensify preparations for what analysts consider one of the most competitive polls in recent years, with APC, APGA, PDP and Labour Party all fielding strong candidates.
Anambra has been under the control of the All Progressives Grand Alliance since 2006, with the APC struggling to gain significant foothold in the state. Its candidate, Senator Andy Uba, finished third in the 2021 election, trailing Governor Charles Soludo of APGA and Mr Valentine Ozigbo of the PDP.
