The Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) Media Front has dismissed recent criticisms from the Osun State Government against the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, as a sign of political desperation.
The group claims these attacks are a calculated attempt by Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration to divert public attention from its alleged governance failures ahead of the August 15, 2026, governorship election.
In a statement signed by its Coordinator, Adebayo Adedeji, on Tuesday, the group alleged that the state government, led by spokesperson Olawale Rasheed, is resorting to half-truths, distortions, and outright misinformation to cast doubt on Oyebamiji’s fitness for office.
The group specifically countered a list of 23 allegations recently published by the state government, arguing that these claims lack a factual basis.
AMBO Media asserted that the current administration is struggling with dwindling public confidence, citing the recent defection of key government officials to the APC as evidence of internal dissatisfaction.
The group emphasized that Oyebamiji, a former Commissioner for Finance and former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), has consistently maintained his integrity throughout his career in public service.
Regarding specific allegations, the group provided several rebuttals. It denied mismanagement claims, stating that during Oyebamiji’s tenure at the Osun State Investment Company Limited, the company’s fortunes improved significantly, generating over N6 billion and diversifying into assets like Abuja and Lagos properties.
Regarding his NIWA tenure, the group claimed that accidents and deaths on waterways dropped by over 70 percent under his leadership. It also clarified that Oyebamiji had no role in initiating the half-salary policy under the previous administration, as he was appointed Commissioner in 2017, nearly two years after the policy began. Furthermore, the group dismissed allegations regarding a $20 million healthcare grant as baseless, asserting that the project was conducted under strict international auditing standards.
AMBO Media challenged the Osun State Government to publish reports from its past investigative panels, accusing the current administration of choosing propaganda and character assassination over addressing its own stewardship of nearly N1 trillion in revenue.
The group concluded by urging the electorate to judge the candidates based on performance and integrity when they head to the polls this August.
