Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Mohammed Idris Haidara, has formally presented his Letters of Credence to His Majesty, King Willem-Alexander, marking the official commencement of his diplomatic duties in the country.
The ceremony took place on Wednesday at the Noordeinde Palace in The Hague, where Ambassador Haidara represented the Federal Republic of Nigeria in a formal diplomatic engagement with the Dutch monarch.
During the presentation, Ambassador Haidara conveyed the goodwill and best wishes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to King Willem-Alexander, reaffirming the strong relationship between Nigeria and the Netherlands built on mutual respect, expanding trade relations, and a shared commitment to multilateral cooperation.
He noted that his posting to The Hague by President Tinubu was aimed at further deepening bilateral ties, expanding economic cooperation, and strengthening the longstanding friendship between Nigeria and the Netherlands.
Ahead of the ceremony, Ambassador Haidara was conveyed to the Noordeinde Palace in a royal carriage escorted by the Royal Chamberlain and horsemen from the Royal Netherlands Mounted Police.
A military band at the palace rendered an honorary salute of four drumrolls and performed the Nigerian national anthem, after which the ambassador inspected the guard of honor.
The event concluded with the formal presentation of credentials and a brief bilateral discussion between the ambassador and the Dutch King.
