A family in Ahiara, Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, has alleged persistent attacks, threats and intimidation by suspected Boko Haram members following the disappearance of a woman identified as Chinomso Paschalline Aguh, said to be a key witness in an alleged sexual assault and criminal violence case.
According to police extracts and affidavits made available to journalists, the matter dates back to 2014 when Chinomso Paschalline Aguh, born on May 8, 1985, was reportedly attacked while travelling along the Kaduna-Zaria Expressway.
The documents alleged that she was abducted by suspected Boko Haram members during the journey from Owerri to Kaduna to purchase goods, and was subjected to assault before later escaping from captivity.
Her whereabouts were thereafter said to have remained unknown for years, while some suspects linked to the incident were reportedly arrested and prosecuted.
In an extract from the Crime Diary at the Divisional Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force, Ahiazu Mbaise, dated November 19, 2025, one Ndu Osinachi Chukwuma, 35, of Umuwaja Lude Ahiara, reported that unknown armed men allegedly linked to Boko Haram attacked members of his family in search of Chinomso Paschalline Aguh.
The report stated that the attackers allegedly stormed the family residence, assaulted family members and threatened to eliminate them if they failed to produce Chinomso, whom they described as a critical witness.
The police extract further alleged that during the incident, Jennifer Aguh was sexually abused and subjected to physical and psychological harm, while the complainant and his mother, identified as Ndu Zita, were allegedly beaten and tortured.
Properties in the compound were also reportedly destroyed and set ablaze during the attack.
According to the statement, the family expressed fears that the attackers were attempting to prevent Chinomso from testifying in an ongoing criminal matter.
The report added that the complainants requested immediate police investigation, protection for surviving family members, and the involvement of specialised security and counter-terrorism units.
In another police report dated March 31, 2026, and also filed at the Ahiazu Mbaise Divisional Headquarters, Ndu Osinachi Chukwuma alleged that the attackers returned to his uncle’s residence in renewed search of his sister.
According to the statement, the armed men allegedly beat him severely and threatened to kill anyone found if the family failed to produce Chinomso Paschalline Aguh.
The complainant stated that the family had relocated to the uncle’s residence after their home was allegedly burnt during the earlier attack.
He further claimed that local youths rescued him and rushed him to the police station before he was later referred for medical treatment.
The 2026 report indicated that the matter was officially recorded by the police, while the complainant was advised to report to the relevant authorities for further action.
As of the time of filing this report, the Imo State Police Command had not issued an official public statement regarding the allegations contained in the documents.
Efforts to independently verify the claims and establish the current whereabouts of Chinomso Paschalline Aguh were unsuccessful at press time.
