Ondo state Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has pledged to clear a long-standing backlog of abandoned projects.
Speaking during the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) 9th convocation ceremony on Wednesday, Aiyedatiwa represented by his Chief of Staff, Segun Omojuwa, identified the school’s ICT centre, the School of Management Sciences, and various internal road networks as immediate priorities under his EASE agenda.
He further committed to partnering with the NDDC and OSOPADEC to finalize stalled student hostels, aiming to transform the campus into a world-class learning environment.
The ceremony also served as a showcase for the university’s rapid academic expansion under Vice-Chancellor Prof. Temi Ologunorisa, who has overseen a student population surge from 5,000 to 12,000.
Among the 1,452 graduates were 50 First Class honorees, led by overall best male student Wale Isiah-Agboola with a 4.9 CGPA.
The event was highlighted by a historic academic milestone: the graduation of the university’s first-ever PhD recipient, Mr. Oluwaseun Adesina-Olukoya.
While Prof. Ologunorisa acknowledged the severe town and gown gap caused by unfinished infrastructure, he expressed optimism that the state’s renewed commitment would finally provide the tools necessary for the institution to lead in Nigeria’s emerging Blue Economy.
