The Ondo State Government has dismissed claims suggesting that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is engaging in anti-party activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the allegations as false and misleading.
Clarifying the governor’s stance, the government explained that a recent photograph of Aiyedatiwa with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Central Senatorial candidate, Ayo Akinyelure, was taken during a routine service at the Government House Chapel on Sunday.
The administration noted that the Chapel is a public worship facility open to all citizens regardless of political affiliation, adding that Akinyelure visited to express appreciation after the governor sent a delegation to his 70th birthday celebration.
It further highlighted Akinyelure’s family ties to Chief Pius Akinyelure, an All Progressives Congress (APC) leader, ally of President Bola Tinubu, and Chairman of the Governor’s Advisory Council in Ondo State.
“Governor Aiyedatiwa remains committed to the APC and all its candidates. The Governor will work with all party structures to ensure that APC wins all elections in Ondo State,” said the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan.
Reassuring party members, Adeniyan urged the public to ignore political distractions meant to incite division within the ruling party.
“Governor Aiyedatiwa will not be distracted from his mandate of delivering good governance and consolidating the gains of the APC in Ondo State. The Governor remains focused. The APC remains strong. And Ondo State will continue to progress,” Adeniyan added.
