Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has revised the state’s 2026 budget upward from N524.411 billion to N769.384 billion, dedicating the expanded funds to critical infrastructure, including roads, water supply, and healthcare.
Governor Aiyedatiwa announced the budget review on Thursday at The Dome in Akure during the swearing-in ceremony for newly appointed commissioners, special advisers, Tutors-General, and members of various commissions and boards.
Charging the new appointees to prove their competence through integrity and measurable results, the governor emphasized that public office is a trust rather than a reward.
He urged them to prioritize the welfare of Ondo State residents above personal or sectional interests and to operate cohesively as a unified administrative team.
Aiyedatiwa further warned against bureaucratic obstruction, rivalry, mediocrity, and the abuse of public trust, directing officials to ensure that government policies and expenditures deliver tangible improvements for citizens.
As part of the administration’s infrastructure push, he announced a commitment to construct at least five kilometers of roads in each of the state’s 18 local government areas, totaling a minimum of 90 kilometers statewide.
The governor tasked the appointees to familiarize themselves with the “OUR EASE” development agenda and to maintain strict adherence to transparency and due process.
Concluding his address, Aiyedatiwa called on them to serve with humility and excellence, ensuring they leave their respective institutions better than they found them.
