Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has called on emerging leaders to embrace value-driven leadership, drawing inspiration from the life of the Oluabo of Ilu-Abo, Oba Olu Falae.
The governor made the call at the launch of the monarch’s autobiography, “The Triumph of Grace,” held at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Victoria Island, Lagos.
Pres. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, also charged traditional rulers across the country to guide their subjects with wisdom, promote dialogue, discourage violence, and foster unity amid growing security and social challenges.
The President noted that the role of traditional rulers has become increasingly significant, stressing that peace and security require collective responsibility beyond government efforts alone.
He described Oba Falae as a distinguished statesman, revered monarch, and symbol of integrity, adding that his record in public service reflects dedication and commitment to national development.
In his remarks, Gov. Aiyedatiwa emphasised the need for discipline, honour, and accountability in leadership, describing the event as more than a celebration but a platform for reflection on national values and direction.
According to him, the autobiography offers not just a personal account but a guide for navigating leadership challenges, insisting that integrity remains the most enduring currency for any leader.
“Diligence is not negotiable, adversity is not final, and integrity remains the most enduring currency,” the governor said.
He added that the life of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation provides practical lessons for younger generations, particularly in a time of shifting values.
Gov. Aiyedatiwa also noted that the theme of the book highlights the role of divine grace in human endeavors, stressing that while effort is essential, purpose is shaped by a stronger influence.
The governor congratulated the monarch on the publication, describing it as a significant contribution to Nigeria’s moral and historical consciousness.
Also speaking, former Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, who reviewed the book, described the occasion as a celebration of diligence, integrity, and commitment to public service.
According to Mimiko, the title reflects Oba Falae’s deep belief in divine guidance.
“There is no coincidence with the God that he serves. He serves the God of precision,” he said.
In his vote of thanks, Oba Falae expressed gratitude for the successful launch and reflected on key moments in his life, which he described as evidence of divine grace.
He recounted how he was saved from premature burial at birth, narrowly escaped a fatal air crash in 1969, and survived a kidnap incident at his farm, noting that each experience reaffirmed his faith.
“These experiences show grace at work,” the monarch said.
Dignitaries at the event included wife of the celebrant, Mrs Racheal Falae; former SGF and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Babagana Kingibe; former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; former Military Governor of Ondo State, Chief Bode George; former Minister of State for Defence (Navy), Dr. Olu Agunloye; former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Titi Tomori-Ponle; the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi; Chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Sen. Dayo Adeyeye; and Chairman of Elizade Group, Chief Ade Ojo, among others.
