The Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved an immediate 60% increase in monthly subventions to all state-owned tertiary institutions in the state.

In a statement issued on Monday, by his Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the governor said the increment is aimed at strengthening the capacity of the institutions to meet their obligations, ensure prompt payment of salaries, and improve the learning environment for students and staff.

The governor also approved the immediate implementation of the agreement reached between the Federal Government and university unions. The approval covers all relevant state-owned tertiary institutions in Ondo State.

According to the statement, the agreement is designed to address long-standing welfare issues, boost staff morale, and align the institutions with national standards.

Both approvals take immediate effect from this month.

The statement added that the governor called on the management of the affected institutions to ensure judicious use of the increased subvention and to prioritize staff welfare and academic excellence.

He also urged the unions to maintain industrial harmony and focus on delivering quality education to students.
