Airstrikes shatter terrorist strongholds in Katsina, kill scores – NAF

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has claimed victory in a wave of airstrikes that allegedly flattened multiple terrorist camps in Katsina State, killing scores of fighters and dismantling key criminal networks responsible for kidnappings and violent attacks across the North-West.

NAF spokesman, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame said that the coordinated strikes executed under Operation Fansan Yamma (OPFY) and Operation Hadin Kai were guided by real-time intelligence that pinpointed fortified enclaves used by notorious terror commanders in Kankara, Faskari and Malumfashi Local Government Areas.

The first assault, launched at about 6:30 a.m. on November 27, hit the base of a wanted terrorist kingpin whose camps have served as hubs for mass abductions and cattle rustling. Precision-guided munitions destroyed the hideout, while follow-up surveillance allowed air assets to target fleeing fighters attempting to regroup.

A second strike at 5:55 p.m. the same day pounded another major enclave in Danfako, Faskari LGA, wiping out logistics hubs, weapons storage facilities and operational shelters.

“Several terrorists were neutralised, and their networks significantly degraded,” Ejodame said, noting that the operations have further denied criminal groups the freedom to operate in the region.

The successful strikes mark one of the most decisive blows against terror cells in Katsina in recent months, as security forces intensify pressure on bandits destabilising communities across the North-West.
