The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has deployed additional security personnel across the country to ensure the safety of candidates participating in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations, scheduled to commence on April 16, 2026.
This proactive measure follows rumors circulating on social media regarding the safety of certain examination centers in a North Central state.
While the Police has dismissed these claims as baseless, the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, stated that the public’s concerns have been noted due to the high stakes involving the education and future of Nigerian youths.
The security arrangement involves both overt and covert operations, including routine patrols, perimeter checks, and the positioning of rapid response teams at strategic locations nationwide.
The NPF is working in close collaboration with sister security agencies to monitor and mitigate any potential threats effectively.
The Police further reassured candidates, parents, and the general public that a safe and conducive environment has been guaranteed for the duration of the exercise.
“Candidates are encouraged to arrive early at their designated centers and report any suspicious activities to on-site security personnel,” a statement by the Force PRO read.
