Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) and the lawmaker representing the Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo Federal Constituency in Osun State, Rep. Bamidele Salaam, have confirmed their physical participation to receive their awards at the 16th anniversary and awards ceremony of NewsDirect.
The annual event is scheduled to hold at the Federal Palace Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, on November 26, 2026.
The nomination of the lawmaker and AEDC follows intense scrutiny by the board and awards nomination committee of NewsDirect, chaired by Mr. Felix Eribo, Executive Director of the Masters Energy Group and a member of the board of NewsDirect.
AEDC is billed to receive the Utility Company of the Year Award in recognition of its improvements in operational efficiency, customer experience, and energy access across its franchise areas.
Meanwhile, Rep. Bamidele Salaam will be honored as the Lawmaker of the Year (House of Representatives) for his remarkable strides as Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts, which has led to improved transparency and accountability among MDAs.
He is also recognized for his landmark empowerment schemes, which have visibly improved the lives of his constituents.
The award committee, in a statement on Sunday, noted that the NewsDirect awards will continue to recognize outstanding Nigerians who demonstrate virtues worthy of emulation.
It also noted that the keynote speaker and lecture theme for the event will be unveiled in the coming weeks while encouraging Nigerians to be part of the celebration.
