Nigerian Afrobeats star and Chairman of the Osun State Sports Trust Fund, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has praised Osun voters for not only voting for Governor Ademola Adeleke but also protecting their ballots from the polling units through to the final collation process.
Davido, who spoke in Ede on Tuesday following the governorship election, stated that the outcome demonstrated the people’s strong support for his uncle and their appreciation of the current administration.
He described the re-election as a well-deserved, hard-fought battle, commending the people of the state for standing firm in defence of their democratic choices.
He added that the outcome should serve as an example to public officials and governors across the country, noting that leaders who perform effectively can consistently count on popular backing.
He noted that the governor emerged victorious despite the active involvement of numerous prominent political figures from across the nation.
“On the re-election, it was a well-deserved, hard-fought battle, if I may call it a battle, a war where you had 17 governors, 50 senators, and numerous members of the House of Representatives against one man, and he came out victorious. God is good,” he stated.
Davido continued, “To the people of Osun State who not only voted for us but stood their ground and defended their votes from the polling units all the way to the local collation centres, and then from there to the main collation centre who stood up and stayed outside the love was amazing.”
“This should be an example to all other government officials and governors out there. It shows that if you work diligently for the people, the people will stand by you no matter the obstacles.”
“They deployed every resource available, but it didn’t work because the people were with us and God was with us.”
“I am very excited for these next four years for my uncle. Looking at how Osun is already thriving, I can only look forward to what is planned for the upcoming term.”
“I truly want to thank the people of Osun State for standing firmly by the Adeleke family and ensuring this successful re-election.”
“Despite all the intimidation and attempted inducements, the people’s will prevailed.”
“I recall someone calling me the day before the poll saying that securing a win would require a miracle. That was exactly what I was told,” he concluded.
