Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has showered high praise on former Governor Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, describing him as a patriotic democrat whose impact on the state’s development remains a cornerstone of its history.
In a heartfelt tribute delivered on Monday in Osogbo, Adeleke characterized the Okuku-born prince as a vital symbol of democracy and good governance.
The Governor, who was represented at the birthday event by his Special Adviser, Hon. Kamarudeen Ajisafe, emphasized that Prince Oyinlola’s influence extends far beyond the borders of Osun.
Although the Governor was away on critical economic engagements, he noted that his administration holds Oyinlola in the highest esteem for his local, national, and international contributions.
“Locally and nationally, you remain a respected voice who continues to serve as a voice of stability and peaceful co-existence,” Adeleke’s statement read, highlighting Oyinlola’s unique ability to de-escalate tension and foster consensus during difficult times.
The tribute further underscored the deep personal and professional bond between the two leaders. Governor Adeleke described the former governor as a genuine counselor and an elder statesman who has consistently earned his confidence over several decades.
He noted that Oyinlola stands out as an honest peacemaker whose reasoning has been instrumental in supporting the current administration’s efforts to elevate the state.
Adeleke concluded by praying for many more years of service for the former governor, whom he called a rare breed of politician that both Osun and Nigeria are fortunate to have.
