The Imole Campaign Council has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to clarify the alleged secret deployment of uncustomised ballot papers and the unofficial presence of the Ebonyi State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mrs. Pauline Ugoyenka, in Osun State ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
In a press statement issued on Thursday in Osogbo, the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee for the Adeleke campaign council, Representative Bamidele Salam, expressed concern over what he described as disturbing developments capable of undermining the integrity of the upcoming poll.
According to the council, an official INEC communication dated August 3, 2026, listed supervisory contingents drawn from 15 contributing states for the Osun election, with Ebonyi State conspicuously omitted from the official roster.
Salam questioned the authority under which Mrs. Ugoyenka, an ICT expert, was allegedly operating within the state, noting that she was reportedly lodged at a hotel in Osogbo without an official mandate.
The campaign council urged the National Chairman of INEC to immediately investigate the situation, clarify Mrs. Ugoyenka’s role, and order her prompt departure from Osun State to avoid jeopardizing the electoral process.
The council also demanded that INEC publish a full, verified list of all officials deployed for the election.
Alongside concerns regarding personnel, the council raised alarms over reports that electoral materials, specifically ballot papers and result sheets, intended for the governorship contest were not duly customised for Osun State.
Salam emphasized that any attempt to utilize non-customised voting materials would be firmly resisted, insisting that only specially produced and verified materials must be deployed to guarantee transparency.
Reiterating its commitment to a free and credible election, the Imole Campaign Council warned that anything short of full adherence to standard electoral procedures would raise fundamental questions regarding the legitimacy of the entire exercise.
