5 Apr 2026

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has declared that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) holds no political relevance in Kano State, describing the party as dead on arrival due to internal crises and a lack of popular support.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, on Sunday.

The Governor made the remarks while addressing a large crowd of supporters in Kano shortly after his return from Abuja.

Governor Yusuf stated that the ADC has been plagued by unresolved internal conflicts which have weakened its structure and diminished its chances of gaining ground in Kano’s dynamic political landscape.

He further noted that the party lacks the grassroots acceptance and credibility needed to compete effectively in the state.

The Governor emphasized that Kano remains firmly under the control of the ruling political structure, backed by the overwhelming support of the people.

He urged supporters to remain united and committed to consolidating the gains recorded under his administration.

IGovernor Yusuf also reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to development, stating, “We will rally solid support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and I am very optimistic that the APC will, God willing, win all elective positions in 2027.”

He added that the partnership with the Federal Government is already yielding positive results through infrastructure and social safety initiatives, affirming that they would deliver a “landslide victory” for the APC.
