Ace Nigerian comedian and actress, Anita Asuoha, popularly known as Real Warri Pikin, has apologised to her husband and Nigerians over her viral stage encounter with singer Timaya.
The multi-talented artiste tendered the apology in a selfie-style video shared on her Instagram page, @realwarripikin, Monday evening, following widespread reactions to the incident at the 2026 AFRIMMA Awards in Dallas, Texas USA.
A video from the event showed Timaya lifting Real Warri Pikin during his performance of his hit song, “Ukwu”.
But Real Warri Pikin, who emerged winner of the Best Stand-Up Comedian award at the ceremony, said the moment was unplanned.
Asuoha said she was backstage enjoying the show when Timaya called for a female fan to join him on stage during “Ukwu”, adding that she rushed out without knowing what the performance required.
According to her, I became reluctant when I realised that Timaya intended to lift me and could be seen pleading with him not to do so.
Asuoha said she eventually agreed to the stunt after the singer urged her not to interrupt his performance.
The video subsequently circulated on social media, attracting mixed reactions from Nigerians, particularly over the comedian’s conduct as a married woman.
Real Warri Pikin said some social media users referenced her decade-long marriage to her husband, Ikechukwu, with some urging her to leave the union over the incident.
She dismissed the calls, saying she had no intention of leaving her marriage, while acknowledging that her conduct was out of character.
The comedian accepted responsibility for putting herself in the situation and apologised to those who were disappointed by the incident.
“Make una take am easy abeg; I am sorry. I take full responsibility for my actions. You people have dragged me to the bone.
“Yesterday, I jumped a very dangerous jump. I jumped into conclusion,” she said.
She also addressed her husband’s reaction, indicating that he was displeased about the incident.
She said being in the United States made it more difficult to resolve the matter with him directly.
Newsmen report that Real Warri Pikin has been married to Ikechukwu Asuoha since 2013 and they have three children.
Timaya and other Nigerian artiste performed at the AFRIMMA Awards in Dallas last Saturday.
