The Accord Party, the current ruling party in Osun State following Governor Ademola Adeleke’s defection to the platform, has formally challenged the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, to explain his role in the alleged mismanagement of a $20 million World Bank health grant.
In a statement signed on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, by the State Accord Chairman, Pastor Victor Akande, the party questioned Oyebamiji’s suitability for the governorship.
The statement highlighted his previous roles as the Commissioner for Finance and the Chairman of the State Procurement Board during the administration of former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, when the primary healthcare grant was reportedly disbursed.
The Accord Party is demanding transparency regarding a specific Procurement Board meeting where the funds were deliberated.
The party asked for clarity on the resolutions made during that meeting attended by other board members including Mr. Adeleke Banik and Remi Omowaiye, and whether those decisions complied with the State Procurement Law.
“Osun people deserve to know the truth of how the $20 million World Bank grant was expended,” Pastor Akande stated. “Why were due process and procurement regulations violated under Mr. Oyebamiji’s watch as Procurement Board Chairman?”
The allegations center on claims that contracts for primary healthcare were shared without following extant laws, leading to a lack of accountability in the sector.
The Accord Party maintains that full records of these transactions are available within the state’s archives and has urged Oyebamiji to come clean before the upcoming August 15 governorship election.
This latest challenge is part of an intensifying political battle in Osun State, as Governor Adeleke, now running on the Accord ticket, seeks to defend his administration’s health sector achievements while framing the APC candidate as culpable for the alleged failures of the previous government.
