Access Bank redeems $500m senior unsecured Eurobond

23 Sept 2026

Access Bank Plc has redeemed its US$500 million senior unsecured Eurobond upon its maturity on September 21, 2026.

Initially issued in September 2021 with a five-year tenor and a coupon rate of 6.125%, the Eurobond was fully serviced throughout its lifespan, with the bank meeting all semi-annual coupon payment obligations on schedule.

The full repayment was funded entirely from the bank’s internal foreign currency liquidity resources.

According to the Bank, the transaction aligns with its asset-liability management framework and has no adverse impact on regular operations or regulatory liquidity requirements.

Commenting on the milestone, Mr. Roosevelt Ogbona, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank Plc, emphasized the significance of the repayment.

“This redemption reflects the strength of Access Bank’s franchise, the discipline of our balance sheet management, and our continued commitment to meeting obligations to investors and stakeholders in a timely and transparent manner.”

“Meeting this maturity from our own balance sheet affirms the strength of our funding position and the discipline with which we manage our capital and liquidity,” Ogbona stated.

The Bank also reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to maintaining a robust funding base, supporting sustainable growth, and delivering long-term value across its markets.
