A contractor based in Kubwa, Abuja, Mr. Anthony Aruna, has recounted a harrowing experience after being kidnapped by armed men right in front of his home on September 14, 2025.

Mr. Aruna, who supplies diesel to schools, hotels, and churches in the area, was attacked while returning home from church with his family.

According to reports, the gunmen ambushed them at the entrance of their residence, assaulted Mr. Aruna, threatened his wife and children, and abducted him at gunpoint.

His wife immediately reported the incident to the police. Three days later, the kidnappers contacted her, demanding a ransom of ₦50 million. After negotiations, the amount was reduced to ₦30 million before Mr. Aruna was eventually released.

Before setting him free, the kidnappers reportedly warned him to abandon his oil and gas business or risk being killed.

Since his release, Mr. Aruna and his family have been living in fear. For security reasons, he has suspended his business operations — a decision that has severely affected their livelihood.

Local authorities have yet to confirm whether investigations into the attack and abduction are ongoing.
