The lawmaker representing Obingwa West State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly and winner of the Abia South All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial District primary election, Hon. Erondu Uchenna Erondu, has thanked party members for their support and pledged effective representation at the National Assembly.
According to results announced by the Chairman of the 2026 Senatorial Primary Election Committee and formally presented to Erondu in Umuahia on Thursday by the returning officer, Erasmus Cishak, he polled 15,982 votes to emerge winner.
His closest rival, Dr. Blessing Nwagba, scored 4,556 votes, while Prince Paul Ikonne and Hon. Nyerere Anyim recorded 4,322 and 4,022 votes, respectively.
The APC Senatorial candidate for Abia South also promised to sustain his empowerment initiatives and deliver stronger representation in the Red Chamber.
Speaking at his Obingwa residence on Friday, Erondu expressed gratitude to his supporters and members of the Senatorial Primary Election Committee led by Erasmus Cishak.
He commended the party leadership for conducting a transparent, free, and fair primary election in Abia State.
He said the committee performed excellently in ensuring a credible process through the use of the Option A4 voting system.
He also appreciated members of the national and local organizing committees, as well as his opponents, for ensuring a peaceful contest.
Erondu added that he is ready to work with all his rivals to secure victory for the APC and deliver quality representation to the people of Abia South Senatorial District.
He further noted that the contest produced no real losers, describing all participants as brothers, and said he looks forward to engaging with his fellow aspirants soon.
