Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has denied widespread reports suggesting he has submitted the name of a specific aspirant to President Bola Tinubu for endorsement as the state’s next governor.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Bashir Adigun, the Governor described the rumors as a calculated attempt at blackmail and urged political stakeholders to focus on legitimate engagement rather than misinformation.
Emphasizing that no such list or individual name has been forwarded to the Presidency, these Governor described the news reports as false and malicious.
“We reject the blackmail outright. It is false to suggest that the Governor has submitted the name of any aspirant. Members and leaders of our party should ignore it,” the statement read.
Governor AbdulRazaq further advised those interested in the governorship seat to redirect their efforts toward building consensus and selling their visions to the party’s grassroots and leadership.
He noted that the time, energy, and resources currently being expended on blackmail and rumor-mongering would be better utilized in constructive political consultation.
