Wonders shall never end until the end of time. While others were enjoying the birth of our Savior, some men were fully down with the ‘Sacrilegious’ act of sodomy. A certain middle aged man identified as Abidoye Abiodun Oluseyi was caught pant down by his Fiancee (name withheld) on the eve of the Xmas 24th, December 2021 in Ile- Ife. When the obnoxious news got to Town, he quickly escaped to the thin air, the family and community were in desperate search for him, as the act is a violation of Ife traditional norms and Nigeria law,
On January 22nd, 2022, he was caught by the gang of angry young boys who physically assaulted him using their hands, legs and heavy rigid sticks. In show of solidarity with the immediate family, the irate youths vowed not to eat or drink until they had him killed. According to eye witnesses, Oluseyi manage to escape by feigned dead, preventing a fatal case of jungle justice on himself.
Following the incident community leaders and local youths reported the matter to police. Authorities have since launched a serious search for Seyi, and was reportedly a ‘WANTED’ person.
The case highlights the ongoing tension surrounding LGBTQ+ rights in Nigeria. The gay community face a severe challenges male and female across, their expressions remain a criminalized under the country’s laws.
