The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has carried out a strategic management staff redeployment, affecting a total of 56 personnel, in a decisive move to enhance operational efficiency, improve service delivery, and strengthen its core mandate within the maritime sector.
The agency’s Director General, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, stated that the exercise is aimed at injecting fresh energy into the system and optimizing performance across all strategic departments.
The reshuffle forms part of broader reforms designed to reposition NIMASA for improved performance and global competitiveness.
The redeployment saw a shake-up across key directorates. Hajia Moji Jimoh was appointed Director of Administration and Human Resources, while Aishatu Jidda assumed the role of Director of Planning, Research and Data Management Services. The Legal Services/Board Secretary portfolio is now headed by Barr. Heaky Dimowo.
Other critical appointments include Mrs. Olubusola Obasanjo-Akande as the Director for the Western Zone, Mrs. Nneka Obianyor as the Director of Reforms Coordination and Blue Economy, and Ahmed Shittien, who will now serve as Special Adviser (Technical) to the Director General.
Dr. Mobereola charged the newly redeployed Directors to leverage their extensive experience and expertise to drive innovation, accountability, and efficiency within their respective departments.
“The redeployment reflects deliberate efforts to rejig operations, foster synergy among departments, and advance sustainable maritime development in Nigeria,” the NIMASA boss concluded.
The exercise is a critical component of the agency’s commitment to internal reforms, ensuring seamless inter-departmental collaboration and maintaining a competitive edge in the global maritime industry.
