300 beneficiaries get financial lifeline from Lagos Gov’t

The Lagos State Government has disbursed financial assistance cheques to an additional 300 beneficiaries under its Eko Cares Financial Assistance Programme, reaffirming its commitment to inclusive governance, social protection, and responsive service delivery.

The presentation ceremony took place at the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement (OPL&CE), where beneficiaries drawn from across the state received support aimed at easing economic hardship and improving livelihoods.

Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Engr. Sholabomi Shasore, congratulated the beneficiaries and described the initiative as a clear demonstration of the dividends of democracy promised by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Kadri Hamzat.

She conveyed the goodwill message of the Special Adviser on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Dr. Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeen, noting that the Eko Cares Financial Assistance Programme is designed to bring succour to indigent residents of Lagos State.

According to her, the initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to compassionate, people-centred governance and policies that directly address the needs of Lagosians. She urged beneficiaries to fully embrace and take advantage of the various social intervention programmes made available by the state government, stressing that such support is their right.

Engr. Shasore further advised beneficiaries to utilise the funds judiciously to improve their welfare, settle pressing obligations, and support sustainable livelihood activities in line with the purposes stated in their applications.

The Eko Cares Programme is one of the Lagos State Government’s flagship social protection initiatives aimed at cushioning the effects of economic challenges and promoting social inclusion across the state.
