…Left severely injured, brother demands justice
A young man identified as Davies Femi Samson was attacked by yet-to-be-identified men on Monday, the 26th of August, 2025.
The incident, which happened in the wee hours of the 26th of August, took residents of the Mapplewood Estate, where the incident occurred, by surprise when some men, numbering about three, broke into the residence of Davies Femi Samson around 2 a.m., before battering him and leaving him with severe injuries to his body and a significant portion of his head.
Davies Femi Samson is currently observing his compulsory National Youth Service Scheme of the Federal Government at the State House, Alausa, in the Ikeja area of the state capital.
Residents of the estate, mostly neighbours of the youth corper, expressed dismay at the clandestine nature of the nocturnal attack, describing the security of the estate as top-notch.
One of the residents of the estate, who spoke to this reporter on condition of anonymity, wondered how the attackers had managed to beat the tight security of the estate, let alone staging such a gruesome attack in the dead of the night on such a young gentleman.
Describing the corper as a gentle and easy-going boy, Captain Stephen Agunloye, another resident of the prime estate, questioned the motive of the unknown assailants while also calling for a security beef-up in the entire estate.
Mr Seun Davies, who is an uncle to Femi, lamented the porous nature of the country’s security, wondering what could have inspired such a dastardly act on such a promising young man. He, however, called on the police and other security agencies to ensure that the culprits are brought to book to serve as a deterrent to others.
After several attempts turned down by the hospital management to speak to Davies Femi, the young corper could only muster a few words when this reporter eventually secured access to him in the hospital.
“All I can remember is that the assailants, while beating me, yelled at me: Where is your mummy? Where is your mummy?” Davies Femi Samson said with a very low and weak voice.
The doctors had to intervene and ward off the reporter as Femi struggled for strength to communicate.
The identity of the attackers remains unknown.
Efforts to speak to the security guards of the estate and the chairman of the estate proved abortive, as calls put through to their lines were not reachable as at the time of filing this report.
The matter has since been reported to the Abattoir Police Station, Agege, for further and thorough investigation.
