The Forum of Former Legislators of the Osun State House of Assembly has raised concerns over intelligence reports suggesting plans by certain individuals and groups to disrupt public peace ahead of the 2026 governorship election in the state.
Addressing a press conference in Osogbo, the spokesperson for the forum and immediate past Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Timothy Owoeye, alleged that Ezekiel Olagoke (popularly known as Ezekiel Oba) from Offa, Kwara State, arrived in Osogbo on Thursday alongside several associates.
Owoeye called on security agencies to immediately investigate the claims and monitor individuals whose actions could threaten public order. He also urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to publicly demonstrate his commitment to peace and democratic values.
Owoeye stated, “We have received intelligence reports that Ezekiel Olagoke, popularly known as Ezekiel Oba, from Offa in Kwara State, alongside other associates, arrived in Osogbo this afternoon.”
“We are informed that Ezekiel Olagoke currently serves as a Special Assistant on Internal Security Matters to Governor Ademola Adeleke and has long been associated with political violence and the sponsorship of cult-related activities. Security agencies should immediately investigate these reports and monitor all individuals whose activities may constitute a threat to public peace.”
He further alleged, “We have also been informed of a secret meeting held last night at the Blue White Roof Hotel in the Oke Oniti area, where plans were discussed on how to attack commercial tricycle operators displaying campaign materials associated with our governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO. We urge security agencies to investigate the circumstances surrounding this meeting and take necessary preventive measures.”
“Furthermore, intelligence available to us indicates that certain groups, popularly referred to as the ‘Accord Area Boys,’ were empowered today with motorcycles to enhance their mobility and operational capacity. We are concerned that such empowerment may be connected to plans to intimidate, harass, and attack members and supporters of our party.”
Owoeye concluded by appealing directly to the state executive, “We urge Governor Ademola Adeleke to publicly demonstrate his commitment to peace and democratic values by distancing his administration from any individual or group associated with violence, intimidation, or political thuggery.”
“The Governor should hand over criminal suspects living in the Government House to the police for investigation and prosecution. Criminal suspects such as Emir Ajagungbade, Nurudeen Alowonle, Jide Joda, and other murder suspects who have been declared wanted by the police should not remain sacred cows.”
