Government officials, regulators, investors and major players in Nigeria’s gas industry are expected in Lagos this month for the fourth edition of the Gas Investment Forum, as the sector looks to attract new capital into projects and infrastructure.
The two-day event, scheduled for September 29 and 30 at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, will be held under the theme, “Positioning Nigeria as Africa’s Global Gas Powerhouse.”
The forum is expected to provide a meeting point for companies seeking investment, financiers, policymakers and project developers, with sessions covering the upstream, midstream and downstream segments of the gas industry.
The organisers said the event comes as Nigeria pushes to turn its large gas reserves into increased production, infrastructure and industrial use.
The Gas Master Plan 2026 is targeting more than $60 billion in new investment across the oil and gas value chain by 2030. It also targets national gas production of 10 billion cubic feet per day by 2027 and 12 billion cubic feet per day by 2030.
Nigeria’s gas reserves stood at 215.19 trillion cubic feet as of January 1, 2026, according to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission.
Osaze Isesele, Director of Events at Gas Investment Forum, said the focus would be on moving investment discussions towards projects that can be developed.
“Nigeria has no shortage of gas resources or ambition. The defining question now is how quickly we can convert that resource base into bankable projects, reliable infrastructure, expanded supply and productive economic activity,” Isesele said.
The programme will include an Upstream Gas and Exploration Hotspot, a Downstream and Midstream Gas Conversation, a Nigerian Content for Gas Symposium and a Gas Finance and Investors Pavilion.
There will also be an Executive Investment Showcase where companies will present projects and business opportunities, alongside technical workshops and masterclasses on project development, technology, commercialisation and investment.
Speakers expected at the forum include the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo; President of the Nigerian Gas Association, Yetunde Taiwo; Coordinating Director of the Decade of Gas Initiative, Ed Ubong; President of the International Gas Union, Andrea Stegher; and NUPRC Executive Commissioner for Development and Production, Enorense Amadasu.
Other participants are expected from Savannah Energy, Greenville LNG, Oando Energy Resources, Sahara Group, Seplat Energy, Shell Nigeria Gas, NNPC Gas Marketing, Powergas Nigeria, Falcon Corporation, Xenergi Nigeria and other companies operating across the gas value chain.
The event will also feature an exhibition, business networking sessions and the Gas Investment Leadership Awards.
The Gas Investment Forum is being convened in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources, the Decade of Gas Initiative and the Nigerian Gas Association.
