The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has lauded the Technological lnnovations of the kwara State Polytechnic, llorin ,in terms of Vocational and Technical Education which had continued to promote and encourages Nigerian Youths to develop passion for Vocational training.
This was made known by the Director, Polytechnic and Allied Programmes of NBTE,Dr.(Mrs) Fatima Kabir Umar, while speaking during the NBTE resources team visit to the Polytechnic rated the Institution as an example of Technological lnnovations in Nigeria.
Umar remarked that Nigeria could be great,if the necessary support were given to the development of Vocational and Technical Education by government at all levels including the relevant stakeholders, stressing that Vocational and Technical Education remains the vehicles for National development.
“As parts of the mandates of the NBTE, the board will continue to support all genuine Vocational and Technological lnnovations that will add values to the Socio-economic development of the country.”she noted.
The board had granted full Accreditations for all the programmes presented by the Polytechnic during the just concluded accreditation and resource inspection visit to the institution.
Equally, the Board had given the green lights for the commencement of several new National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes, set to launch in the upcoming 2025/2026 academic session.
The Board, had also in a letter of approval signed by the Director of Polytechnic and Allied Programmes, Umar detailed the approval of a diverse range of new programmes, including the pioneering National Diploma in Medical Imaging, ND Health Information Management, ND Industrial and Labour Relations, ND Law, and ND Chemical Engineering Technology, amongst others.
Similarly, the Board granted approval for the commencement of the following HND programmes, Agribusiness Technology, Crop Production Technology, Journalism and Media Studies, Tourism Management Technology, Mechatronics Engineering and Urban and Regional Planning amongst others.
Umar, had during a recent NBTE team visit to the institution which preceded the approval, expressed satisfaction with the existing facilities and curriculum offerings of the Polytechnic.Commended the proactive initiatives taken by the Management under the leadership of the Rector, Engr. Dr. Abdul Jimoh Mohammed, emphasizing the quality and relevance of the newly introduced programmes in addressing current educational needs and labour market demands.
She called on the Management not to rest on her oars by introducing more programmes that would keep the teaming admission seekers Students from roaming the streets.
Earlier ,the Rector, Engr. Dr. Abdul Jimoh Mohammed acknowledged the thoroughness of the NBTE accreditation team and expressed gratitude for their constructive feedback. assured that the Management is committed to addressing any identified areas for improvement, highlighting a dedication to maintaining the highest educational standards.
Mohammed lauded the Polytechnic staff, Management and the Students on the feat, expressing optimistic that the approval would drive further innovations in teaching and learning, ultimately contributing to the overall development of Technical and Vocational Education in Nigeria.
He stressed that the Polytechnic had remained a melting points in the Nigeria Vocational and Technically education sector as it had proved it’s worth in terms of innovations and technology with a lots of partnership both within and outside the country.
While soliciting for more support from the Kwara State government, Mohammed noted that the support of the government had greatly improved the teaching, learning and research development at institution and praise Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for his investment in the state Polytechnic.
