2 men docked for alleged theft of battery worth N100,000

Two men, Sunday Famakinde, 38, and Kehinde Olamide, 35, were on Wednesday docked in an Ota Magistrate’s Court in Ogun, for allegedly stealing a battery worth N100,000.

The defendants whose addresses were not provided, are facing a two-count bordering on stealing and conspiracy.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecutor, DSP E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendants committed the offences at No. 41, Ariyo Street, Ntabo, Ijoko,Ota.

He alleged that the defendants conspired among themselves to steal a battery valued at N100,000, belonging to one Morenikeji Jelili.

The Prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code,Vol.11, Laws of Ogun,2006.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fadairo, granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety each in like sum.

She said that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the state government.

The case was adjourned until Sept. 24, for further hearing.
