The Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has marked the first anniversary of his administration by commissioning a series of transformative infrastructure projects across the Akure metropolis.
The highlights of the anniversary activities included the unveiling of the Igoba Township Road and the Alagbaka Extension Road, projects the Governor described as critical links for commerce and community connectivity under his “OUR EASE” policy framework.
The Igoba Road, a 5.5-kilometre project, serves as a vital artery for one of Akure’s fastest-growing communities, while the Alagbaka Extension Road was engineered to standard specifications to ease urban congestion and provide an alternative route to the Akure Airport.
Beyond road construction, the administration launched the Omi Irorun O’Datiwa Water Scheme at the Federal University of Technology Teaching Hospital.
This solar-powered hybrid system is designed to supply 150 cubic meters of clean water daily, directly benefiting approximately 6,000 residents and enhancing hospital hygiene standards.
The Commissioner for Water Resources, Ayodele Akande, noted that the state has constructed over 50 boreholes in the last year, increasing water access across the state by 12%.
Community leaders, including the Obaloogun of Igoba, Oba John Adeniyi Adinlewa, commended the Governor for fulfilling his campaign promises.
Aiyedatiwa vowed to continue this momentum, citing ongoing large-scale projects like the 24km Okitipupa–Igbokoda Road as evidence of a sustained commitment to equitable development across Ondo State.
