The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has gained significant momentum as 17 members of the House of Representatives have defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).

These defections were officially announced on the floor of the House during Tuesday’s plenary session.

The lawmakers joining the NDC includes Yusuf Datti, Uchenna Okonkwo, Adamu Wakili, Thaddeus Attah, George Ozodinobi, Lilian Orogbu, Oluwaseyi Sowunmi, Peter Aniekwe, Mukhtar Zakari, George Oluwande, Munachim Umezuruike, Emeka Idu, Jesse Onuakalusi, Ifeanyi Uzokwe, Afam Ogene, Murphy Omoruyi, and Abdulhakeem Ado.

This mass exodu follows the recent entry of former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and former Kano State Governor Musa Kwankwaso into the NDC just two days prior.

Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), and Kwankwaso, the former standard-bearer for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), formally received their membership cards on Sunday.

In a separate move, Representative Leke Abejide also announced his departure from the ADC to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
