Amotekun parades five criminal suspects in Ekiti
The Ekiti State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps on Monday paraded five suspects for theft and attempted burglary.
While addressing journalists in Ado-Ekiti, the Corps Commander, Brigadier Gen. Joe Komolafe, said the command arrested them after receiving distress calls from their victims at Tinuola Estate and Oke-Mesi, respectively.
He said three of the suspects, Bahari Ibrahim, 18, Yahaya Mumuni, 20, and Rufai Isiaka, 20, attempted to break into one Mrs Osho’s house, after a complaint had been lodged in the command for missing a pumping machine and other items.
He added that the other two suspects, Oladosu Eniola, 52, and Fatokun Michael, 62, already burgled the water corporation in Oke-Mesi before they were finally caught.
In his words, “Five suspects were arrested this morning. Three for house-breaking attempt and two for breaking into water corporation properties in Oke -Mesi.
“Those two stole things like armoured cables and other items of the corporation.
“For the other three suspects, we received a distress call from Tinuola Estate this morning, we went there and were able to arrest them.
“They also went to one Mrs Osho, a widow, to break into her house, after she had already lodged a complaint to our table of persistent theft, which involved a pumping machine and some other items.”
However, one of the suspects, Oladosu Eniola, denied stealing from the water corporation, adding that it was a mining business that brought him to the vicinity.
“I came to Oke-Mesi on a mining business, but along the line, I saw steel in a water corporation.
“I gave Baba (Fatokun Michael ) N3,000 when he visited me, he told me he’s the controller of the whole area. He told me that the former security guard was buried three weeks ago. When I checked, I noticed that the place has been cleared, but there is one person that does come there occasionally, which is the son of the deceased.
“When I carried the steel, the son kicked against it, he told me to return it, and I returned it that day.
“But on the third day, I asked Baba if the son had not reported, he told me to buy a saw blade and spinner and come to Oke-Mesi, but when I got there, the guards chased us, and we were arrested.”
While calling on the general public to be vigilant and security conscious, the corps commander urged them to report any suspicious activities in their vicinity and carry on with their daily routine without fear.
While also reckoning with a series of developments under the new administration in the state, the Ekiti State Security Network Agency lauded Governor Biodun Oyebanji for increasing their minimum wage of N20,000 to N30,000.
