Amotekun arrests three suspects for phone snatching in Ekiti

Operatives from the Ekiti State branch of the Western Nigeria Security Network, also known as Amotekun, have arrested three individuals suspected of being involved in phone snatching in the Oye Local Government Area.

The suspects, including 19-year-old Samuel, were apprehended after a series of phone thefts in the area. Following Samuel’s arrest, he named two accomplices, Garuba and Tosin, who were also subsequently arrested.

Abiodun Adeleye, the Head of Communications for the Ekiti Amotekun Corps, confirmed the arrests, stating that Samuel had confessed to his involvement in the thefts.

“He admitted that he had been stealing phones and worked with a syndicate led by Garuba and Tosin,” Adeleye said in a statement released on Monday.

The suspects were handed over to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Oye Ekiti for further investigation. Adeleye reiterated Amotekun’s commitment to ridding the state of criminal activities, particularly phone thefts, and ensuring the safety of residents.

“Amotekun remains dedicated to combating crime in Ekiti State, and we will continue to work hard to apprehend criminals and bring them to justice,” Adeleye concluded.
