Amosun’s loyalist, Debasco returns to APC, pledges support for Abiodun, Tinubu
Bankole Taiwo, Abeokuta
The popular socialite and politician, Otunba Babatunde Onakoya fondly called Debasco has returned to the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Otunba Onakoya, a former member of Benin/Owena River Basin Authority and a chieftain of APC from Odogbolu local government, Ogun State had last year August decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
The politician said he is moving back to his former party with thousands of his Debasco political group members who cuts across the state. The official defection is slated for January 29, 2023.
Speaking with journalists over the weekend, Onakoya said “it’s no more news that I am back to my party, APC since January 1st of this year, really, this is not because I am having problem with anyone, it is just that I did some reviews that were quite personal to me and I decided to take this courageous step of going back to APC.
“I am back in my party to work assiduously for the second term of Gov Dapo Abiodun, a very good brother of mine from way back in time and of course to also work for the realisation of the presidency of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Nobody needs to be told that Asiwaju Tinubu has what it takes to fix the country and he surely deserves all the support to emerge victoriously during the February 25, 2023 presidential election”.
“And if you are talking of what I am bringing on board, it is my mobilisation skills, the Debasco political group with thousands of its followers and over 100 Coordinators of the group across the state have resolved to mobilise at least 200,000 votes for Gov Abiodun and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We shall leave no stone unturned to achieve this target by the special grace of God”.
