Amosun denies negotiating with Zhongfu Firm, calls it an impostor

Former Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has denied negotiating with Zhongfu International Investment FXE, calling it an impostor.

He stated that the company is involved in a Chinese-against-Chinese business dispute and has no locus standi to appropriate Nigeria’s sovereign assets.

Amosun explained that his administration assumed office in 2011 and inherited a dispute between Zhongfu and China Africa Investment FXE over management rights of the Ogun Guangdong Free Trade Zone (OGFTZ).

He said Zhongfu was appointed as Interim Zone Manager but was later discovered to have provided false information and was subsequently terminated.

The former governor stated that Zhongfu lost several court cases and wrote petitions to various authorities, but his administration successfully defended its actions.

He emphasised that there was no need to renegotiate any contract during his tenure and denied allegations of sending security agents to harass anyone.

Amosun called on the government not to negotiate with Zhongfu, comparing the situation to the P&ID case, and offered to work with agencies to prevent Nigeria from being scammed.

He expressed concern that a business dispute between two Chinese nationals has degenerated into an attempt to appropriate Nigeria’s sovereign assets, which he described as unacceptable.
